Leader of the climate talks accepts political statement

by helen on December 1, 2011

On Thursday 1 December – during the UN Climate talks which are taking place in Durban, South Africa – the Hope for Creation political statement was delivered to the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC – the body that runs the climate talks).

Over 60 leaders of churches and organisations from over 20 countries had signed the statement as part of the Hope for Creation global day of prayer and action.

Richard (on the left of the photo) from a Tearfund partner in Malawi had the exciting opportunity to deliver the statement. Christiana Figueres (on the right) was very open to receiving the statement and said that we need a lot of prayer in this process!

Please continue to keep praying for climate action globally, especially over the next week while the UN Climate Talks are taking place. Download the Hope for Creation prayer resource for prayer points.
